Mark Hendry: Celtic Are Running on Fumes – and the Board Are Still Standing Still
A lifeless draw at Tynecastle exposed a team short on fight, depth and direction, with the January window slipping away once again.
Martin O’Neill acknowledged on Sunday that his Celtic stars are running on fumes.
It was certainly evident against Hearts at Tynecastle in the 2-2 draw, which I felt flattered the visitors.
Celtic didn’t give Craig Gordon a save to make outside of two magic moments. Meanwhile, the title-chasing Jambos had a handful of chances to take all three points. It was a slog getting through the 99 minutes as a viewer.
O’Neill has built a reputation over the years of grinding out results as Celtic manager, but even he is struggling to get a decent tune out of this squad.
